Support and information for your role with us.
We're part of BRASP (Bristol Refugee and Asylum Seeker Partnership). This video shows how different agencies worked together during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Leaflets on what BRASP partners do are available in 15 languages. TFSW has relationships with all these agencies and can vouch for their effectiveness — use this to help clients who need extra support and aren't yet connected with other organisations.
Kompasi is an excellent website with up-to-date information on all services available in Bristol for refugees and people seeking asylum.
The NHS Asylum Seeker & Refugee Trauma Hope Service (Traumatic Stress Service), Womankind, Mind, Bridge Foundation and others offer counselling, psychotherapy and psychological services for refugees in Bristol. We coordinate with these organisations through the Wellbeing Forum.
Some of our clients may already have support from these organisations. None of them provide long-term therapy, so when a client reaches their session threshold, they're often referred to us.
In Devon, our primary partners are DCRS in Plymouth and RSD in Exeter.
In Somerset, our primary partners are Thrive (who coordinate the Welcome Hubs), Charis in Taunton, and the Somerset Council Resettlement Team.
We work within a referral partner system: our clients are referred to us by organisations in the sector. While maintaining client confidentiality, this means we can check in with referral partners and other support organisations about the practical support a client is receiving alongside our therapy.
The refugee and asylum seeker sector in Bristol is thriving, and the Friday news bulletins always carry up-to-date information about what's available to support our clients.
