Celebrating Volunteers’ Week 2025: Meet One of Our Youngest Volunteers

At Trauma Foundation South West (TFSW), we’re incredibly grateful for the dedication and creativity of our volunteers - each person brings something unique to the team. For Volunteers’ Week 2025, we are shining a light on one of our brilliant volunteers who reminds us that there is no age limit on compassion and commitment.

Meet Olivia – Marketing and Communications Volunteer

Olivia joined TFSW in August 2024, initially through a day’s work experience supporting a filming and photography project. That first day made a big impression. “I enjoyed meeting the team and finding out more about TFSW,” she says. “So, I asked if I could volunteer as part of my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.”

Since then, Olivia has brought creativity and energy to her role, supporting our recipe book campaign on social media. “I enjoy being creative, so I chose three different recipes and filmed myself making them. It was a fun way to show that the recipes are easy to follow,” she explains. She also helps package and post the books to customers, adding a personal touch to every order.

Volunteering has been a learning experience for Olivia. “I didn’t know much about TFSW before I started, but talking to the therapists and translators about what they do was fascinating,” she says. “It’s been good to be able to support the charity in this way.”

We asked Olivia why trauma-informed support matters to her she answered that hearing the stories of people supported by TFSW helped appreciate the importance of trauma-informed care and reminded her how much we all benefit from community and compassion.

Her message to anyone thinking about volunteering? “I would definitely recommend it. The team are caring, and I can tell their work makes a difference.”
