TFSW Awarded Express Grant to Support Mental Health Services for People Seeking Asylum in Bristol

We are very pleased to share that Trauma Foundation South West (TFSW) has been awarded funding through the Express Grant Programme from the Quartet Community Foundation.

This generous support will directly contribute to our work in Bristol, where we offer free, long-term counselling — with access to professional interpreters — for refugees and people seeking asylum who have experienced significant trauma.

Many of the people we support are unable to access NHS mental health services due to long waiting times, services that don’t meet their cultural or psychological needs, or being turned away despite experiencing suicidal thoughts or severe psychological distress.

At TFSW, we know that specialist, trauma-informed therapy can be life-changing. One of our clients recently shared:

“Seeing the therapist is the only place I can feel free to speak in truth.”

We are deeply grateful to Quartet Community Foundation for recognising the importance of this work and backing mental health care for some of the most marginalised members of our community. Their funding helps us continue to provide compassionate, sustainable support that enables individuals not only to survive but begin to heal.
