Welcoming New Members at TFSW

In light of yesterday’s difficult news on asylum policy, we want to share something positive - a reminder that across our communities, people are working every day to build connection, compassion and long-term stability.

Growing Our Team

We’re delighted to welcome new members to Trauma Foundation South West. Elham Mousavian, Giulia Tranchina, Lisa Ballam, Sophia Wedderkopp and Victor Ofori Asante join us as trustees, and Caroline Jaine joins as a Special Advisor. Each brings expertise, humanity and a strong commitment to our mission of making healing possible for people seeking sanctuary in the South West.

The Importance of Stability

This moment feels especially important because we know, from decades of evidence and our day-to-day work, that when people feel secure, they engage locally, build relationships, learn the language, and participate fully in community life. Stability helps people to flourish - and when they flourish, so do our communities.

Policies that treat people as temporary or “other” don’t just affect asylum systems; they shape the kind of society we become. They weaken trust, fuel division, and make it harder for people to feel part of the place they live.

“Policies may shift, but our commitment does not. People deserve safety, dignity and the chance to belong.

We’re proud to have such dedicated leaders joining us at this critical time.”

Dr Katherine Cox and Nicola Hill, Co-Directors, TFSW
